๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐ ๐ง๐จ๐ง, my maternal grandmother,
Who trained to manage a farm in a century when women were not supposed to do so. Thanks to her, her husband was able to pursue his political ambition, become the first liberal mayor of Marbehan, and transform the village by electrifying homes and installing the first water towers. But it was she who, behind the scenes, carried the vision and the daily effort.
๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐ ๐จ๐ซ๐ฬ๐ญ, my paternal grandmother,
Who saw her husband leave for Congo without even the protection of quinine. He returned ill. She found herself alone, with an only son โ my father โ in an era when widows had neither security nor mutual aid. She held strong, faced the war, and kept her head high.
Who managed and developed the family business, Chauffages Charlier, with my father, while raising six children. Accounting, salaries, clients, home: everything rested on her.
She continued to learn, to pass on knowledge, to believe in the education and emancipation of her daughters, instilling in them the importance of financial and intellectual independence.
They never sought recognition; yet, without them, nothing would have been possible.
Because their legacy is a call to commitment.
Because freedom, intelligence, and diversity are battles to be fought every day.
Because we not only inherit a past, but we also have the responsibility to open new horizons.
